COVID-19 (05/13): Taiwan reports 64,972 local cases, 41 deaths
Taiwan's COVID-19 case numbers for May 13, 2022.

Taiwan reported 64,972 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Forty-one more people are dead.

More than a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 22,483 people there testing positive. Another 11,613 people have the virus in Taipei, along with 9,434 in Taoyuan.

The number of cases in other cities and counties is as follows:

Hsinchu County: 1,626
Yilan County: 1,425
Changhua County: 1,169
Pingtung: 1,154
Hualien County: 1,008

Chiayi City: 228
Penghu: 104
Kinmen: 65
Lienchiang: 18

Another 41 people have died from COVID-19. The youngest was a man in his 50s with a history of heart disease and cancer. He had not been vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Meanwhile, the eldest was a man in his 90s with a history of nervous system disease. He was also unvaccinated.

Out of the 64,972 people confirmed with COVID on Friday, 217 have moderate or severe symptoms. 

Taiwan also recorded 39 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
