Taiwan reported 85,310 new local cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Forty-one more people have died due to the disease. Taiwan also recorded 46 imported cases of COVID-19.
Almost a third of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 27,230 people there testing positive. Another 12,069 people were confirmed with the virus in Taipei, along with 9,658 in Taoyuan.

Another 41 people have died from COVID-19. The youngest was a child under the age of five. The oldest was a person in their 90s.
Twenty of those who died were unvaccinated. Forty had a history of chronic illness.
Out of the 85,356 people confirmed with COVID on Wednesday, 153 have moderate symptoms and 30 have severe symptoms.
Epidemiologist Lo Yi-chun says that Taiwan has yet to reach the peak of this current wave. He expects this wave to peak in the coming week.
Taiwan also recorded 46 imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
