COVID-19 (05/24): Taiwan reports 82,363 local cases, 42 deaths

Taiwan reported 82,363 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Forty-two more people have died. Taiwan also recorded 72 imported cases of COVID-19. 

About a fifth of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 16,609 people there testing positive. Another 10,532 have the disease in Taoyuan, along with 9,437 in Kaohsiung.

Another 42 people have died from COVID-19. About eighty percent of them had not received three doses of a COVID vaccine. The youngest was a child who had not been vaccinated and did not have a history of illness. The eldest was a woman in her 90s with a history of chronic respiratory disease. She had received one dose of a COVID vaccine. 

Out of the 82,363 people confirmed with COVID on Tuesday, 251 have moderate or severe symptoms.
