National Cheng Kung University and the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) have signed a memorandum of cooperation on Tuesday to aid Ukrainian students and academics.
Cheng Kung University pledged NT$6 million in subsidies for Ukrainian students and academics displaced by the war in Ukraine. The academy will distribute the subsidies to recipients living in Poland.
The university says that the subsidies are meant for researchers and students who had to flee their homes. It says the funds will be used for new research projects to be conducted with the academy or other universities in Poland.
The science ministry says it has already worked to bring Ukrainian students and researchers displaced by the Russia-Ukraine conflict to Taiwan. It says the new funds will help ease the worries of Ukrainian academics.
