Taiwan will remain a key part of the global semiconductor supply chain. That was according to Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua on Wednesday.
Leaders of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, known as the Quad, said on Tuesday that they would work together to establish supply chains for semiconductors. The leaders added that they would exclude problematic suppliers of key technologies and equipment.
The comments left some wondering how this would affect Taiwan.
Economic Minister Wang Mei-hua says Taiwan is a base for semiconductor production. She says that the chip shortage in car manufacturing last year demonstrated Taiwan’s importance to semiconductor supply chains.
Others agreed. Electronics industry representative Richard Lee says the Quad’s initiative would not affect Taiwan.
