COVID-19 (05/25): Taiwan reports 89,352 local, 76 deaths
COVID case numbers for May 25, 2022

Taiwan reported 89,352 new local and 37 imported cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday while 76 more people have died as a result of contracting the disease.

The deceased were aged 30 and over and 73 had chronic illnesses while 31 were unvaccinated. 

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung said he expects the number of cases to steadily increase and reach a peak in early June. He does not expect another major surge in cases.

New Taipei: 21,350

Taoyuan City: 10,355

Kaohsiung City: 9,792

Taichung City: 9,766

Taipei City: 9,085

Tainan City: 5,904

Changhua County: 3,520

Pingtung County: 2,933

Hsinchu County: 2,570

Miaoli County: 1,818

Hsinchu City: 1,799

Keelung City: 1,768

Yilan County: 1,746

Hualien County: 1,558

Yunlin County: 1,432

Nantou County: 1,241

Chiayi County: 1,048

Taitung County: 711

Chiayi City: 557

Penghu County: 224

Kinmen County: 143

Lienchiang County: 32

To date, Taiwan has seen a total of 1,558,380 COVID-19 cases.
