COVID-19 (05/27): Taiwan reports 94,808 local cases, 126 deaths
Taiwan's COVID-19 case numbers on May 27, 2022.

Taiwan reported 94,808 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. One hundred and twenty-six more people have died, and 343 more people have moderate or severe symptoms of the disease. All three figures are new record highs.

More than one-fifth of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 19,363 people there testing positive. Another 11,501 have the disease in Taichung, along with 11,270 in Kaohsiung.

Another 126 people have died from COVID-19. Most of them were over the age of 80 and not fully vaccinated. The vast majority had pre-existing health conditions.

Out of the 94,808 people confirmed with COVID on Friday, 343 have moderate or severe symptoms.

Taiwan also recorded 47 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
