Taiwan reported 60,042 new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. One hundred and nine more people have died.
More than one in six of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 10,668 people there testing positive. Another 8,333 people have the disease in Kaohsiung, along with 7,540 in Taichung.
Another 109 people have died from COVID-19. Most of them were over the age of 80 and less than half were fully vaccinated.
Out of the 60,042 people confirmed with COVID on Monday, 468 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 61 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
