Taiwan reported 80,656 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. 90 more people have died from COVID.
Over one in six new local cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 14,372 people there testing positive. An additional 10,586 have the disease in Taichung, along with 10,380 in Kaohsiung.
Another 90 people have died from COVID-19. Their ages ranged from 40 to 90 years old. All of them were classified as severe cases. 86 of them had a history of chronic illness and 44 were not vaccinated.
Out of the 80,656 people confirmed with COVID on Tuesday, 190 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 49 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
