Taiwan has been selected to host the third WorldSkills Asia Competition in 2025. That’s according to Deputy Labor Minister Lin San-Quei on Wednesday.
The regional competition brings together young talent from across Asia, who compete for medals in their chosen profession. Skill categories range from IT and fashion to carpentry and graphic design.
Lin says the majority of the countries participating in the event supported Taiwan’s bid. He hopes the competition will help facilitate the development of these skills in the country.
WorldSkills Asia was established with the purpose of promoting peace and unity and fostering innovation and development. The first competition was held in Abu Dhabi in 2018.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition has been canceled each year since 2019. The competition’s organizers have called for Taiwan to take extra precautions. But they say they are confident the competition will be a success given Taiwan’s excellent track record of managing the pandemic.
