A Slovakian delegation is set to arrive in Taiwan on Sunday and meet with various high-ranking officials. Taiwan's foreign ministry announced the upcoming trip on Thursday, saying that it demonstrates the growing partnership between the two countries.

Parliamentary leader Milan Laurencik will lead the delegation. The group also includes the head of a legislative Taiwan friendship group, Peter Osusky, and the regional president of the capital Bratislava, Juraj Duba.

The Foreign Ministry says the large group of Slovakian officials shows the high level of mutual respect between the two countries. Taiwan and Slovakia have shown support for each other throughout the pandemic by donating medical supplies, masks, and vaccines.

The delegation will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Tseng-chang, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, and others. Minister Wu says the delegation plans to discuss future trade deals and investment with Taiwan. One of these plans includes a partnership agreement between Bratislava and Kaohsiung.

The delegation plans to stay in Taiwan for five days and depart on June 10.
