The 2022 Taipei International Book Exhibition formally opened on Thursday after two years online due to COVID-19. The exhibition is being held at the Taipei World Trade Center through June 7.
Three hundred and fifteen publishing houses are participating in the exhibition, including over 160 international publishers representing 21 countries. France is this year’s guest of honor.
The exhibition will include stalls selling books by various publishers, as well as special exhibitions and lectures.
Speaking at the opening, Vice President Lai Ching-te says the exhibition shows the strength of Taiwan’s publishing industry. He added that holding the exhibition in person, the first time since the pandemic began in 2020, illustrates the success of Taiwan’s fight against COVID-19.
