Taiwan reported 76,517 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. One hundred and forty-two more people have died.
New Taipei has the highest number of new cases, with 11,766 people there testing positive. Another 10,790 have the disease in Kaohsiung, along with 10,651 in Taichung.
Another 142 people have died from COVID-19. Most of them were over the age of 80, but less than one-third were fully vaccinated.
Out of the 76,517 people confirmed with COVID on Friday, 409 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 47 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
