Taiwan reported 82,973 new local and 54 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. One hundred twenty-four more people have died.
The area with the most infections was Kaohsiung, recording 12,572 new cases. Taichung recorded the second most with 12,498, while New Taipei added the third most with 11,504 new cases.
Another 124 people have died from COVID-19. 116 of them had a history of chronic disease. 47 were unvaccinated.
Taiwan also recorded an additional 193 cases with moderate to severe symptoms on Tuesday.
Taiwan has reported 2,540,871 cases of COVID-19 and 3,214 deaths to date.
