Taiwan shouldn’t worry about the United States cooperating with Japan and South Korea on semiconductors. That was according to TSMC chairman Mark Liu on Wednesday.

US President Joe Biden visited Japan and South Korea in late May. During his trip, he emphasized cooperation with both countries on securing semiconductor supply chains.

Liu says TSMC, the world’s largest chip maker, shouldn’t worry about the United States seeking to organize competitors to surpass the company. He says Washington is only seeking to secure the expansion of US technology and trade, not threaten Taiwanese industry.

Liu says the form of cooperation between the United States and Taiwan is different, and Washington continues to communicate with Taipei on these issues.

TSMC reported a 25% increase in revenue last year, and expects around 30% growth this year.
