President Tsai Ing-wen will deliver a video speech at the Copenhagen Democracy Summit. The event, organized by the Alliance of Democracies Foundation, begins on Thursday.
In her speech, the president will share Taiwan’s experience in resisting authoritarianism and safeguarding democracy. This is the third time she has been invited to speak at the annual event.
The president will not be the only Taiwanese presence in Copenhagen. A cross-party delegation of Taiwanese lawmakers arrived in Denmark on Wednesday to meet with Copenhagen Mayor Jens-Kristian Lutken.
This year’s summit will address Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as how to counter authoritarian powers and build an alliance of democracies. Other prominent figures invited to speak this year include Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, former US President Barack Obama, and the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
