A group of French lawmakers arrived to a warm welcome at Taoyuan International Airport. The delegation landed on Wednesday morning to discuss economic relations, trade, and production.
The delegation is led by vice chairman of the French senate's Foreign Affairs Committee Joël Guerriau. He is also vice chairman of France's parliamentary Taiwan Friendship Group.
The delegation has already met with President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Tseng-chang, and Foreign Minister Joseph Wu. President Tsai presented Guerriau with the Ching Yun Medal for his effort to promote relations between Taiwan and France.
This is the third French delegation to visit Taiwan in less than a year.
Taiwan's former representative to France Lu Ching-lung says that although the two countries are not diplomatic allies, France is trying to build connections with Taiwan. Lu says he predicts delegations will continue to visit Taiwan in the future.
