Taiwan reported 68,311 new local cases of COVID-19 on Friday. Two hundred and thirteen more people have died. That’s the highest number in a single day.
Almost one in six of the people with new cases of COVID are from Taichung, with 10,032 people there testing positive. Another 9,864 have the disease in Kaohsiung, along with 8,858 in New Taipei.
Another 213 people have died from COVID-19. Most of them were over the age of 80 and not fully vaccinated.
Out of the 68,311 people confirmed with COVID on Friday, 553 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 36 imported cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
