Taiwan reported 45,081 new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. One hundred nine more people have died.
Almost one in six of the people with new cases of COVID are from Kaohsiung, with 7,184 people there testing positive. Another 6,694 have the disease in Taichung, along with 5,470 in New Taipei.
Another 109 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80 and less than half were fully vaccinated.
Out of the 45,081 people confirmed with COVID on Monday, 378 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 29 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
