Taiwan reported 63,170 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. One hundred sixty-eight more people have died.
If you take into account the population of each area of Taiwan, Changhua County is a hotspot for the virus. More than 5,000 people have tested positive for COVID there. Pingtung County is also dealing with a high number of infections, as is Taichung.
Another 168 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80, and less than a third had received three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Out of the 63,170 people confirmed with COVID on Thursday, 373 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 51 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
