Military exercises in Taiwan’s southernmost Pingtung County were disrupted on Monday after a truck-mounted missile system exploded. The truck the missile was mounted on was destroyed but no one was hurt.
The explosion happened during a training exercise for Taiwan’s 58th Artillery Command. According to the military, a rocket from a Taiwan-made Thunderbolt-2000 missile system failed to take flight after its propellant ignited.
Taiwan’s military says it has established a task force to determine the cause of the accident.
