Taiwan reported 35,596 new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. One hundred forty-four more people have died.
If you take into account the population of each area of Taiwan, Changhua County is a hotspot for the virus. Almost 3,000 people have new cases of COVID there. Kaohsiung is also dealing with a high number of infections, as is Taichung.
Another 144 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80, and almost two-thirds had not received three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Out of the 35,596 people confirmed with COVID on Monday, 295 have moderate or severe symptoms.
Taiwan also recorded 36 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
