The foreign ministry says that European support for Taiwan is growing. The statement comes on the heels of pro-Taiwan resolutions passed in the Italian and EU parliaments.
Last week, the foreign affairs committee of Italy’s Chamber of Deputies passed a resolution supporting Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization. The resolution passed unanimously.
Earlier in June, the EU Parliament adopted a report that called for Taiwan to be included in international organizations.
In response, the foreign ministry says Taiwan will keep working with like-minded partners in Europe. It says the country wants to develop relations on the basis of freedom, democracy and human rights.
