Development Minister: Taiwan-US ties at a 40-year high
Kung Ming-hsin speaks at the Global Taiwan Institute

National Development Council head Kung Ming-hsin says Taiwan-US ties are the best they’ve been in 40 years. That came during a speech Kung gave on Monday at the Global Taiwan Institute (GTI). Kung gave a 40-minute speech at the Washington-based think tank.

Kung says he would like to see increased exchanges between Taiwan and the US in the areas of semiconductors, communications, AI, and astronautics. He emphasizes that Taiwan-US collaboration would create many business opportunities which would benefit the greater good.

Kung is currently leading a 265-person Taiwanese delegation to attend the SelectUSA Investment Summit. The delegation is mostly made up of Taiwanese business leaders.

Kung says US-Taiwan ties are developing rapidly. He says increased cooperation in trade and industry indicates that the two countries are becoming closer. Kung adds his attendance at the SelectUSA Investment Summit, and a recent meeting between senior Taiwanese and American trade officials, are evidence of strong Taiwan-US ties.
