President Tsai Ing-wen praised the success of the 51st Taiwanese American Conference/East Coast (TACEC) on Wednesday. She underscored its contributions to diplomacy, peace, and prosperity. The annual event brings together key members of the Taiwanese-American community, and provides a unique venue for broadening Taiwan’s engagement in the US.
Tsai addressed the conference virtually, emphasizing common strengths and the need to overcome challenges. She says in advancing the interests of the Taiwanese-American community, the conference also supports the peoples of Taiwan and the United States.
Tsai also highlighted issues of mutual concern. For example, despite being a global leader in technology, Taiwan’s electronics industry has faced enormous challenges from China. She says it’s therefore critical for Taiwan, much like the United States, to develop a strategic approach to fostering innovation to stay ahead of the competition.
