Taiwan’s Yu Ai-wen took the silver medal on Tuesday in the 10-meter air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea. She broke her own national record in the preliminaries on Monday with a score of 584.
Yu is one of Taiwan’s top shooters. In March, she and her team won the bronze at the ISSF World Cup Shotgun in Egypt in both the 10-meter air pistol event and the 25-meter handgun event. She also competed for Taiwan in the 2012 Olympics. In 2018, she won gold at the FISU World Shooting Sport Championship.
After this win, Yu said she is very grateful to her coach Kuo Hsi-chung who has taught her since she was young and to Chinese Taipei Shooting Association Chairman Chen Shih-kui for his encouragement.
Eight Taiwanese athletes competed in this year’s shooting sport World Cup in Changwon.
