Taiwan took home one silver and one bronze medal in wushu at The World Games in the United States. Liu Pei-hsun struck silver in the women’s Taichi competition, and Lai Po-wei took home the bronze in the men’s nanquan event.
Liu’s performance was particularly noteworthy as she bested Brunei’s Basma Lachkar with a score of 19.013. It was not only Liu’s first international competition, but it also came after her training was interrupted by a COVID-19 infection. After the event, she said she was satisfied with her result, but thought she could do better.
Lai is an experienced contender who has proven himself to be one of the top martial artists in the world. In 2019, he clinched gold at the World Wushu Championships in the nangun competition.
So far, Taiwan has won five silver and four bronze at The World Games taking place in Birmingham, Alabama.
