The foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that a delegation from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration is set to visit Taiwan in late July. The mission will include bank president Dante Mossi and other bank representatives, and will seek to strengthen business and investment relations with Taiwan.
Taiwan joined the bank in 1992 and was one of its first non-regional partners. Taiwan today is the institution’s highest non-regional shareholder. Last year the bank opened an office in Taipei to deepen its partnership with the country and facilitate greater links with Asia.
The bank mission will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen, Premier Su Tseng-Chang, as well as representatives from the foreign ministry, finance ministry, and NGOs. The mission’s opening ceremony will also include a forum to discuss topics including collaboration on digitization, financial integration, and development.
The finance ministry says Taiwan is actively working with the bank to promote economic development and integration with Central America. It hopes to use Taiwan's industrial expertise to assist in development, deepen cooperation, and expand Taiwan's business presence.
The delegation will visit Taiwan from July 31 to August 5.
