On Wednesday, a delegation from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration celebrated the one-year anniversary of its Taipei office’s opening. Taiwan finance officials attended the celebration.
The bank is a multilateral institution focused on economic development in Central America. Taiwan has many formal diplomatic partners in the region. It joined the bank as a non-regional partner in 1992. Today, Taiwan is the bank’s largest shareholder.
Bank president Dante Mossi hopes Taiwanese industries can further develop in Central America. Specifically, he hopes the solar and electric vehicle industries can invest more in the region, as they are already well-developed in Taiwan.
Finance Minister Su Chien-jung says Taiwan’s relationship with the bank is one of deep friendship. He says Taiwanese firms interested in investing in Central America can work with the bank and his ministry to receive assistance.
