Taiwan’s armed forces have launched a so-called after-action review of China’s unprecedented sea and air drills around Taiwan. A military source told Taiwan’s Central News Agency that the review will provide essential feedback for analyzing how Chinese forces might operate in a real-life attack.
The source stressed that the aim of the review is not “self-criticism.”
The armed forces are pushing ahead with the procedure even as the Chinese military continues large-scale combat exercises near Taiwan. The ongoing threat of force includes daily flights by warplanes into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone and across the sensitive median line dividing the Taiwan Strait.
The defense ministry says it will also continue to carry out its own military exercises as scheduled in its sea and airspace. The operations planned include shooting drills and “joint courage” exercises off the northeastern and southwestern coasts.
