Taiwan’s epidemic authorities announced that starting Wednesday international arrivals can drive their vehicles to quarantine facilities. That followed an increase in the cap of weekly arrivals to 50,000, putting additional strain on transportation services. Authorities say they will wait until October to decide whether to do away with quarantine requirements.
Passengers will have to follow special rules, including wearing a face mask, picking up the car at a designated parking lot, and disinfecting and sanitizing all interior and exterior surfaces of the car after use. No rental vehicles can be used.
Epidemic official Victor Wang says passengers will not be allowed to stop en route to the quarantine facility or be around other people. Other Covid-related travel restrictions will be adjusted by the government conditionally.
