Senior Taiwanese official: Chinese drone flights are gray-zone warfare
Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General Alex Huang.

In recent weeks, drones from China have flown repeatedly over Taiwan’s outlying islands. On Monday, a senior official in Taiwan’s Presidential Office condemned the uninvited incursions and said they are part of China’s gray-zone warfare tactics.

Speaking during a radio interview, Presidential Office Deputy Secretary-General Alex Huang said the drone flights are provocative. He says Taiwan is working to fortify its defenses, not with the intention of fighting other countries, but to protect its democracy.

Huang added that China’s intimidation is nothing new to Taiwan. He says airborne vehicles consistently flying over the outlying Kinmen Islands from nearby Xiamen only help make their provocation more visible.
