Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says the resilient Taiwanese people should be included in efforts to solve the many crises around the world. That came in an article published on Sunday in the US newspaper Mercury News. The article was published in anticipation of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly which will open on Tuesday in New York City.

The theme for this year’s assembly is finding transformative solutions to the challenges facing the world. Those include the Covid-19 pandemic, food and energy shortages, global supply chain troubles and climate change. Wu says Taiwan’s 23 million people should not be left out of global efforts to face these challenges.

The foreign minister also says Taiwan will exercise restraint in response to China’s provocations and work with like-minded countries to maintain regional peace and stability.
