The Foreign Ministry is partnering with Taiwan’s top-tier universities to promote a study program for South and Southeast Asian students and professionals. An opening ceremony for the New Southbound Policy Elite Study Program was held on Friday.
The partner universities include Taipei Medical University, National Taipei University of Technology, and National Quemoy University.
The initiative aims to promote Taiwan as a global study destination for students and professionals from ASEAN and South Asian nations. The program is part of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy to enhance regional cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwung says the program is a unique opportunity for international engagement. He says it highlights Taiwan’s long-term commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders.
The program is geared towards science and technology, but also provides Mandarin courses. Participants currently include researchers from India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, and other countries.
