Taiwan reported 33,337 new local cases of COVID-19 on Monday. That’s about 15% higher than the number of cases reported on Monday last week.
More than a fifth of the people with new cases of COVID are from New Taipei, with 6,782 people there testing positive. Another 4,308 have the disease in Taichung, along with 3,901 in Taoyuan.
Another 38 people have died from COVID-19. More than two-thirds were over the age of 80 and less than a third had taken three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Taiwan also recorded 54 imported cases of COVID-19 on Monday.
