The founder of Taiwan’s semiconductor giant TSMC, Morris Chang (張忠謀), will represent Taiwan at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. That’s the word from President Tsai Ing-wen on Thursday.

The 91-year-old Chang will lead a Taiwanese delegation to Thailand, where the summit will take place. This will be the sixth time the semiconductor tycoon will represent Taiwan at an APEC meeting.

President Tsai said on Thursday that the Taiwanese APEC delegation will underscore Taiwan’s key role in global supply chains, especially semiconductors. Through cooperation with regional partners, Taiwan hopes to create safe, reliable, and resilient supply chains.

APEC is a forum consisting of 21 member economies in the Pacific Rim region. It focuses on free trade and business facilitation.
