A German delegation is coming to Taiwan on Sunday and will meet with President Tsai Ing-wen and other top officials. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou said on Thursday that this is the second German delegation to visit Taiwan in October.

German lawmaker Peter Heidt is leading the six-member delegation made up of several political parties. These include the Christian Democratic Union, Social Democratic Party, Green Party, and Free Democratic Party.

Ou says the fact that Germany is sending two delegations in October shows that both Germany and Taiwan deeply respect values such as freedom, democracy, and human rights. She says this acts as a foundation for their strong partnership.

Besides meeting with top officials, the delegation will also hold discussions with the Taiwan Association for Human Rights and think tanks. Ou says the delegation will learn about Taiwan's developments in human rights and strengthen exchanges and collaboration between the two countries.
