Taiwan is further easing pandemic-related restrictions. On Tuesday epidemic control chief Victor Wang (王必勝) announced that establishments no longer had to check the temperatures of people entering their premises.
Wang also says those participating in large religious events or group tours will no longer be required to have three shots of a COVID vaccine or a negative rapid test. Three shot mandates are also being lifted at a number of public venues like gyms, bars, and karaoke clubs.
The new rules also no longer require close contacts of people infected with COVID to quarantine for three days. Close contacts will only need to take precautions like avoiding crowded spaces and being vigilant of displaying COVID symptoms.
Meanwhile, the National Immigration Agency says it will no longer extend visas for non-nationals who came to Taiwan before March 2020. Those who remained during the pandemic received automatic visa extensions every month. The agency says this group must leave Taiwan before November 30 now that Taiwan’s borders are opening.
