Taiwan reported 34,242 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
New Taipei has the highest number of new COVID cases, with 5,660 people there testing positive. Taichung and Kaohsiung also reported relatively high numbers of cases.
Another 46 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80, and only about a third had taken three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Authorities say another 71 people are suffering from moderate or severe symptoms of the disease.
Taiwan also recorded 32 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
