Taiwan reported 29,922 new local cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
The highest number of new cases of COVID was reported in New Taipei, with 5,084 people there testing positive. Another 4,005 have the disease in Taichung, along with 3,970 in Kaohsiung.
Another 81 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80, and only about a third had taken three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Authorities say another 220 people are suffering from moderate or severe symptoms of the disease.
Taiwan also recorded 55 imported cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
