The music director of Taiwan’s National Symphony Orchestra, Jun Märkl says he has made French music the focus for this and next year to bring new colors to the orchestra. Märkl gave an interview to RTI on Thursday.
The director says the orchestra has limited experience performing French music. He says that he believes it is important for an orchestra to be aware of the different styles of music which can improve the quality of the group. Märkl says he hopes the new repertoire can bring more exciting performances to Taiwanese fans.
Märkl also says Taiwan is rich in nature, culture and landscape, and so he intends to add nature as another focus in 2023. He also hopes to help young Taiwanese musicians develop their own music by reflecting on Taiwan's culture.
Jun Märkl is a renowned conductor from Munich and has worked with many orchestras around the world, including the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
