The Lithuania Trade Representative Office has officially opened in Taipei. That’s according to Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry on Monday.
Lithuania’s Economics Minister Aušrinė Armonaitė announced the office’s opening on Twitter. She hopes the new trade office will bring “better cooperation between Lithuania and Taiwan.”
Armonaitė also tweeted that Lithuania is taking a big step towards becoming a high-tech country, and that the Taiwan-Lithuania partnership is going to help make that a reality.
At a reception for the new office launch, Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry announced the results of cooperation between the two countries. That included exports of Lithuanian agricultural products to Taiwan. It also announced a new initiative to increase cooperation in the semiconductor industry.
The ministry also says Taiwan and Lithuania are close partners in the fight against authoritarianism and share the values of democracy and freedom.
Taiwan and Lithuania began building stronger bonds in 2021 when both sides agreed to establish representative offices in each other’s capitals.
