Taiwan reported 24,935 new local cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. That's almost a 30% decrease from the number of cases a week ago.
Kaohsiung has the highest number of new COVID cases, with 3,734 people there testing positive. New Taipei and Taichung also reported relatively high numbers of cases.
Another 15 people have died from COVID-19. Most were over the age of 80, and less than a third had taken three doses of a COVID vaccine.
Authorities say another 33 people are suffering from moderate or severe symptoms of the disease.
Taiwan also recorded 39 imported cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
