Radio Taiwan International (RTI) and the Association for International Broadcasting are co-hosting the 2022 Taiwan Forum in London to share Taiwan’s experience in cyber warfare. The forum’s logo “We Share the Same Responsibilities” indicates that RTI has the responsibility as a national radio station to share Taiwan’s voice with the world.

The forum will open with a pre-recorded speech by President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) followed by Digital Minister Audrey Tang’s (唐鳳) online talk about Taiwan’s experience in fighting against fake news. Taiwan Digital Diplomacy Association head Chiayo Kuo (郭家佑) will discuss how Taiwan can break through outside pressure by using tools like online communities.

RTI Chairperson Cheryl Lai (賴秀如) is leading the forum’s delegation. Lai says the Russia-Ukraine War has made the world more aware of the situation in the Taiwan Strait.

Lai adds that the situation has also marked Taiwan’s importance as a defender of press and media freedom in the Chinese speaking community. She says Taiwan is proving it is capable of assuming its responsibility as a democratic ally.

The forum will take place on Friday. Political and economic leaders in the UK will attend the event, as well as scholars and representatives of international organizations.
