St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Terrance Drew says his country will continue to support Taiwan's participation in the international community. Drew spoke at a press conference on Wednesday during his delegation's four-day visit to Taiwan.

Prime Minister Drew says he advocated for Taiwan's participation in the UN during his first speech at the international organization. Drew has been in office for less than 100 days, and he says the fact that his first state visit was a trip to Taiwan shows the importance of the two countries' relationship.

The prime minister also says St. Kitts and Nevis will help Taiwan reach its goal of becoming a bilingual nation by 2030. Drew says Kittitian students who study in Taiwan will use their English skills to teach local students.

Drew says his delegation has come to Taiwan to learn more about the country's medical system and universal health care. He says Taiwanese experts will also come to St. Kitts and Nevis to work with its healthcare system directly.

The prime minister adds that he is encouraging Taiwan's private sectors to invest in St. Kitts and Nevis in areas like tourism and green energy to bolster the countries' mutually beneficial relationship.
