US President Joe Biden says he will discuss Taiwan when meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping (習近平) at the upcoming G20 summit in Bali. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Joanne Ou (歐江安) said on Thursday the ministry will closely monitor Beijing and Washington's interaction.
The G20 is an international forum made up of 19 countries and the EU. It aims to address issues in terms of the global economy, climate change, and sustainable development. This year's summit opens next Tuesday.
Ou says Washington has repeatedly condemned the possibility of a Chinese attack and values Taiwan’s safety. She also points out that Taiwan and the US have a positive relationship and maintain clear lines of communication. Ou says Taiwan will maintain close contact with the US and stay informed about any updates between Biden and Xi.
