The National Fire Agency has signed Memorandums of Understanding with a US nonprofit organization and a Taiwan think tank to cooperate on emergency response. The agreements were signed on Friday.
The US organization is called Spirit of America. It focuses on strengthening US partnerships with allies by providing the necessary materials and training to preserve freedom and create better lives. It was established in 2003 in response to the terrorist attacks from September 11th 2001.
The Forward Alliance is a Taiwanese national security and civil defense think tank. It was founded by politician and former US special forces soldier Enoch Wu. The group advocates for policies and conducts campaigns to raise awareness and public participation in Taiwan’s security.
The National Fire Agency says it will also work with the government and the community to implement a disaster response plan to strengthen communications, logistics and supplies for major disasters.
