Taiwan will host the 38th World Veterinary Association (WVA) Congress in April next year and share its veterinary experience. That came from the Agriculture Council on Wednesday.

This is the first time Taiwan is hosting the WVA. Taiwan’s national veterinary federation invited WVA President Rafael Laguens to meet with Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-chung (陳吉仲).

Chen says he welcomes the WVA conference because it will build Taiwan’s international exposure. The congress will allow other countries to understand Taiwan's veterinary service system and deepen mutual exchanges and cooperation.

The minister says he also hopes to share Taiwan's experience in eradicating foot-and-mouth disease, preventing African swine fever, and controlling other animal epidemics. He says health is a cross-disciplinary issue and veterinarians play an important role in this.

Laguens says he is very impressed with Taiwan's veterinary service system and thanks the agricultural council for supporting the 38th WVA Conference.
