Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) said Taiwan will increase the weekly cap on inbound travelers to twenty thousand starting in December. The decision was made after the CDC assessed global cases and Taiwan's healthcare capacity.
The CDC says new COVID-19 cases are gradually decreasing. Meanwhile, there has been an increase in the number of people entering and leaving Taiwan after border restrictions were relaxed in October.
Su encourages people to get the second-generation BA.5 vaccine booster. He adds the CDC should plan to provide the next round of free test kits to elders and young children.
Su also says pandemic misinformation has been increasing, so the CDC should swiftly clarify any inaccurate information. This will minimize the chances of the public being misinformed.
