The Central Weather Bureau says this November could be the warmest month ever recorded in Taiwan.

Weather official Chen I-liang (陳怡良) says the weather report station on Taiwan's highest mountain Yushan measured higher temperatures all across Taiwan this fall. He adds that the November temperatures alone are on average 1.6 degrees Celsius higher than past Novembers.

Chen says the average temperature this fall was around 0.6 degrees Celsius higher than normal. He says this is because the high atmospheric pressure induced a stable yet noticeably higher temperature.

Officials also predict La Niña effects will continue until the end of winter this year. La Niña is a weather pattern that pushes more warm water to Asia. This means that the rainfall in Taiwan this winter could be low to normal, and the temperature is estimated to be warmer.
